This is a fine example of a grand-design spiral galaxy, Messier 83 or the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy. Besides the well-defined beautiful spiral arms the main characteristic is the yellow interior region which hosts the older stars and the blue, young stars within the outer disk.

The skies were thankfully clear the night I captured this galaxy and the beautiful details such as small nebulae (pinky sports) are available at a closer look.
